Thanksgiving

We had Thanksgiving at home this year. The Aarons, and our favorite neighbors, Candice and Nolan, came. It was strange to have masks in the mix and less family than usual. But putting Thanksgiving dinner together, just our little family, was a delight! We had so much fun planning the menu and working together to make so. much. food! And Nate and I especially were so aware of how very much we have to be grateful for. We have been so blessed by Heavenly Father.

Emmie was thrilled to get her own little glob of pie crust dough. She worked that dough over!

Addison received the honor and privilege of making the pumpkin pie. It was delicious!

We wanted to find a way to serve as a family. It was a little tricky because of Covid, so we threw some ideas around and came up with an activity that was super meaningful for our family. The kids each asked a couple family members/close friends to sponsor them for a Thanksgiving turkey trot. The sponsors pledged to pay a certain amount of money for each half mile lap that the child ran. The kids were so motivated to do their best, because they were running for a cause. 

34 degrees! Not for the faint of heart!

The end of the race: tired, freezing cold, and ready to go home for a doughnut and some hot chocolate! Also triumphant! Thanks to these kids and our friends and family, we were able to donate $656 to United Way!

So we went home, showered, and got cooking. All the food was so good, and I didn't cook another dinner for almost a week afterwards, because there were so many leftovers. My only regret is forgetting to take a picture of the whole group of people. We ate and chatted and video chatted with our St. George peeps, and had some good piano time too.

It's worth mentioning that Nate had been avoiding sweets for roughly a month leading up to Thanksgiving. He was very excited to make and eat plenty of pie.

The next day we took down the Thankful Tree and started decorating for Christmas!
