This and That

We had fun looking at all the cool gourds when we went up north to buy apples.  We went to the family history fair. The family history center is really cool! Addison making granola all by himself. Leah was student of the month for her class. Super Add! 0% flattering, 100% true to life. Asa getting ready to take the kids to school. What a nut. A nut with a strong core. Crazy hair day. She's actually asleep like this. This guy spent a whole morning hanging out in our yard. A fun game of scum with the Aarons. Bryn's awesome topographic map of Utah. She made it out of salt dough all on her own! A couple favorite preschools. Bryn got her expander out! WOOHOO! Popcorn for everyone!

Fall Fun and Halloween 2017

Image
This past fall was beautiful and seemed nice and long. Here are a few of our highlights. We took a trip to the Corn Maize. It's great bang for your buck. They've got a great maze, and lots of other activities - a corn pit, "train" ride, bounce house, zipline, slides, etc. This thing was Nate's favorite. He could've watched it all day. We made jack-o-lantern cookies. Asa made a graham cracker ghost snack for everyone as part of his preschool one day. Also, we made a witch hat. Shoulda gone out and bought the real supplies. But he was so darn cute anyway. Leaves! We had so many of them! I didn't remember having so many last year, but man. We raked so much. I love this part of our yard. It's a little wild, and so pretty. We filled our garden boxes with leaves. Hopefully the earthworms are hard at work on 'em. One of those magical afternoons. Our black cat, giraffe...

Preschool Field Trip to the Trail

Image
First off, these guys are besties. I love it when they play and carry on conversations with each other. We went on a field trip for preschool a couple weeks ago to a walking trail near our house. I feel strongly about kids being able to have unstructured outdoor time, so we went to explore the trail and woods and see if it'd be a good place to spend an afternoon during summer break. The kids each got to bring a sandwich bag to fill with treasures while we walked.  There were a billion exploded cattails. And we found lots of interesting plants. We found a pretty fun waterfall.  . And conquered a giant fallen tree. And we found this really cool hut that somebody made out of long sticks. We had fun deciding on the perfect knot to use as a doorbell and discussing how we would survive if that was our actual home. It was a great afternoon. We'll definitely be returning with Addison and Bryn this summer.
