Gender Reveal Cupcakes

Image
Back in March, Nate and I went in for our big ultrasound for baby #5. Inspired by my sister Shauna's family, we'd decided with the kids that we'd wait to find out the gender until we were all together. The radiologist was a good sport and played along. She wrote the gender on a card and sealed it in an envelope. After the ultrasound was done, Nate and I went back to the car and managed to send a picture of the card to my sister Brianna, with our eyes closed! Skills, I tell you. Actually we sent a picture of the wrong card first, and it was blank, so there was a lot of confusion. But then we located the right one and it all got worked out. Brianna works at a bakery, and she went right to work on some cupcakes, filling them with either pink or blue frosting - nobody knew which it would be! Nate had it all worked out with a coworker who lives near Bri's bakery, to pick them up and bring them to work the next day. But Bri was so excited that she and Mason jumped in the...

Michelle's Side of the Family Comes to Town

Image
A couple weeks ago, Jenna received her endowment. What a special event in our family! The way schedules worked out, it made the most sense to do it here, in the Bountiful Temple. So we got to have tons of my family in town, which is a rare and most delicious treat. Jenna and Preston came, of course, and Brianna and Mason, Mom and Dad, and Rebecca and her brand new baby, Austin. It was a house full of fun!  It was a very fast visit, but it was just wonderful.  The first day we got to have Bri and Beck and Austin tag along to ballet and the grocery store, and then we decided that we'd better go to lunch at Zupas. From there it's all a blur, but more people came, we hung out, stayed up way too late, got to show off our new house, and generally had the time of our lives. After the session at the temple, we took the DQ by storm. I cannot believe this actually happened! Look at all these beautiful people!!!! Asa adores his Uncle Mason. Here they ar...

Moving In

Image
Well, last time we moved to a new house, back in 2008, our family looked like this: We grew a little bit in the almost 8 years we lived there, in a lot of ways. And here we were on our last day there. Our little dollhouse. We laughed and cried there, buried cats and chickens and flushed fish there, broke arms, had surgery, sweated, fretted, relied on the Lord and the ward, and grew. Our final act before leaving to live in our friends' basement for a week between houses was to tour the house together, and then all crowd into one of the loft closets and immortalize ourselves and the time we spent in our first real home. After a week of life in a graciously offered basement apartment, we were so pumped to finally move in! We've lost all sense of shame since we moved into our first house, obviously. The two of us showed up at 2:30 on a Monday. Nate's first act, if you must know, was to go #1 in the master bathroom. (We have a master bathroom!!!) The #...
