Bryn's 11th birthday

Our sweet Brynny turned 11 in July. In my brain she's still my little chicken-loving girl, but in reality, she is really growing up. She's sweet and smart with an extremely strong will. The absolute queen of organization - I ask her to help me organize schedules and other things for our family because she's just that good at it. She's rocking homeschool and is a loyal sibling and friend. She loves to swim with all her heart. She'd do it every day if she could. And she reads voraciously. Her personality adds so much to our family.

 Bryn had a great birthday. Her birthday is the day after Emmie's, and Bryn picked an awesome way for our family to celebrate a couple days before: a trip to Classic Waterslides!





Bri, Mason, and Abigail also happened to be here from Alabama. It was special to have them around for the celebration.

Bryn moved into her very own room not long before her birthday. A few of her aunties did some watercolor paintings and hand lettering to go on her wall and mailed them to her for her birthday. She delighted in getting them in the mail.

Hooray for Bryn! What a cute sleepover. She's seriously so awesome. The way she accomplishes goals she sets for herself amazes me. Love you Bryn!

Throughout our married life, Michelle and I have pointed out things that show we are "established." The day we got a bed frame, instead of just having a mattress on the floor, was a big one. And the day we bought our first shovel. The last major one was probably at Christmas, when we finally strung lights from the top of the house instead of just in the windows. Tide Pools and Big Trees Days 1-3

By the end of last school year, one thing was painfully apparent: we needed a vacation. We were all beyond burned out. So Nate worked his magic and combined our hopes and dreams into one amazing, unforgettable trip. We drove to northern California to see the redwoods and go to the beach in search of tide pools. We stayed in the perfect little vacation rental by a river full of tadpoles and spent our days exploring and our nights hot tubbing. Our only regret is not staying for longer. (And that one time that Bryn threw up all over the car . . .) Here are some pictures of our amazing trip, which we named, "Tide Pools and Big Trees." We did lots of driving through the desert. This was the highlight of the first day's journey, the "Tree of Utah." Nate stayed up real late making these amazing landmark maps for the kids to follow along with. Michelle's Side of the Family Comes to Town

A couple weeks ago, Jenna received her endowment. What a special event in our family! The way schedules worked out, it made the most sense to do it here, in the Bountiful Temple. So we got to have tons of my family in town, which is a rare and most delicious treat. Jenna and Preston came, of course, and Brianna and Mason, Mom and Dad, and Rebecca and her brand new baby, Austin. It was a house full of fun!  It was a very fast visit, but it was just wonderful.  The first day we got to have Bri and Beck and Austin tag along to ballet and the grocery store, and then we decided that we'd better go to lunch at Zupas. From there it's all a blur, but more people came, we hung out, stayed up way too late, got to show off our new house, and generally had the time of our lives.
