Quarantine

I've gotta say, I have been delighted with social media lately. The outpouring of creativity and hilarity are just good for the soul. From an old lady locked in her closet hiding from her husband who wants to watch all the Planet of the Apes movies, to the many Disney song parodies, to John Krasinski's SGN broadcasts, I just love people. It's been pretty cool to watch the world unite as we've all been hiding out in our own houses for the past several weeks.

Anyhow, here's a look into our household for the past several weeks.

Wingspan. Our current favorite game.

Our cat, Mike, has disappeared. We miss him! (Even Nate . . . sort of.)

 Our washing machine broke. We got a lot of mileage out of the box for the new one.

Having Grandma here was an absolute treat!

A visit to the bird refuge. We were here when we found out that school's out until at least the first of May.




We got a kick out of watching this grackle.

Our neighborhood put together a "bear hunt" for all the kiddos. We walked/drove around the neighborhood and saw probably 60 bears!

A surprise Zoom birthday party for my sister Amber. It was so much fun. All my siblings and parents were there.

Leah invented her own special brownie recipe for a school project.

Asa made Oreo brownies with several of his kindergarten-aged cousins on Zoom.

Bryn taught us to make friendship bracelets.

We rented Spies in Disguise. Super funny and cute.

Nate taught a 5th Sunday lesson about the Restoration to our ward over Zoom.

We busted out a new puzzle.

Addison wowed us with a magic show one night.

 Every once in awhile I escape into the craft room and sew umbrellas. I'm working on a table runner.

Addison made his own personal little garden. Cute, huh?

General conference. I loved this conference! I felt like those who spoke had responded to President Nelson's admonitions to ponder the blessing of the Restoration. Then they basically took their ponderings and shared them with us. It was strange that there were only like six people at the venue at one time.


 The flowers are really starting to bloom!

And then, of course, there's school.

Emmie decided to water a plant for me while I was helping with school this morning. Such a big helper!

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: that bike park is the coolest thing ever. I hope that picture of Addison in his jammie pants ends up in a slideshow at his wedding.

Throughout our married life, Michelle and I have pointed out things that show we are "established." The day we got a bed frame, instead of just having a mattress on the floor, was a big one. And the day we bought our first shovel. The last major one was probably at Christmas, when we finally strung lights from the top of the house instead of just in the windows. Well, it's time to put a big, fat check in another "established" box - the one labeled Chickens. Yes, we are now the proud and clueless owners of a chicken coop, chicken run, and six chicks. Tide Pools and Big Trees Days 1-3

By the end of last school year, one thing was painfully apparent: we needed a vacation. We were all beyond burned out. So Nate worked his magic and combined our hopes and dreams into one amazing, unforgettable trip. We drove to northern California to see the redwoods and go to the beach in search of tide pools. We stayed in the perfect little vacation rental by a river full of tadpoles and spent our days exploring and our nights hot tubbing. Our only regret is not staying for longer. (And that one time that Bryn threw up all over the car . . .) Here are some pictures of our amazing trip, which we named, "Tide Pools and Big Trees." We did lots of driving through the desert. This was the highlight of the first day's journey, the "Tree of Utah." Nate stayed up real late making these amazing landmark maps for the kids to follow along with. Michelle's Side of the Family Comes to Town

A couple weeks ago, Jenna received her endowment. What a special event in our family! The way schedules worked out, it made the most sense to do it here, in the Bountiful Temple. So we got to have tons of my family in town, which is a rare and most delicious treat. Jenna and Preston came, of course, and Brianna and Mason, Mom and Dad, and Rebecca and her brand new baby, Austin. It was a house full of fun!  It was a very fast visit, but it was just wonderful.  The first day we got to have Bri and Beck and Austin tag along to ballet and the grocery store, and then we decided that we'd better go to lunch at Zupas. From there it's all a blur, but more people came, we hung out, stayed up way too late, got to show off our new house, and generally had the time of our lives.
