Snow Much Fun!

We've really been enjoying getting dumped on here and there by snow. As for me, shoveling is one of my very favorite wintertime activities. Mostly because it forces me to get my behind in gear and go outside. It's always a boost to my mood. Emmie, as always, loves the great outdoors and if she had her way, most of her days would be spent outside exploring.

I realize that eating snow is frowned upon in some circles. We are not part of those circles. It's a delicacy in our house.

We had a fun time sledding as a family last week for family night. Our kids are big enough that they can really conquer the hills these days! And Emmie likes to sled and she also likes to watch. And eat snow.

That's Addison whizzing by in the background.

This time of year it's always fun to spot a visitor or two (or four) in our yard.

We decided it would be fun to bring a blizzard inside the house, too, in an attempt to just embrace the fact that we live in the great white north and we might as well try to like it. Asa is very proud to be able to make paper snowflakes.

Nate and I have become winter runners this year, too. I go with my running buddy, who motivates me to get my lazy behind out of bed at the crack of dawn and get sweaty. Generally we don't go if there's fresh snow on the roads. Nate tried it out last week, just to see. He said it was more like skiing than running!

You've gotta love a baby in snow pants.

We have a house that's vacant in our culdesac, and it's got the perfect driveway to be used as a sledding hill. The kids have been capitalizing on it.

Asa and Nate made these enormous (and heavy) snowmen yesterday. They're self-portraits.

And the kids have been using the banks of snow that the plows build up as snow forts. They had some epic snowball fun yesterday.
