Almost a Bike Ride by the River
Last month Nate got it in his head that we needed to go for a family bike ride. And starting at home and going around the neighborhood was not going to cut it. We needed to go somewhere else. So He packed up all the bikes and helmets and kids in the mini and we were off.
We stopped to grab a five dollar pizza on the way, and headed to the Ogden River Parkway. We parked at the Dinosaur Park and sat on the curb facing the giant t rex, and had pizza, canteloupe and carrots. Then we chugged some bottled water and snapped on helmets and got ready to go. Or so we thought. Poor Nate had forgotten the attachment for the bike trailer. So we found ourselves with six people, four bikes, and a double stroller with no front wheel.
It was a bummer for sure. I suggested that we all just walk, but Nate felt the need for biking, so Addison and Bryn and I hopped on our bikes and Nate decided to run and push Leah and Asa in the two-wheeled stroller. I'm sure we were quite a sight. It worked out surprisingly well, and Nate managed to act natural.
I love the Ogden River Parkway. It runs right along the river and is nicely shaded. We rode up to the Botanical Gardens and ditched our bikes to go look around. It was glorious. Flowers and hummingbirds everywhere. And mariachi music blaring from some big party across the lawn.
We soaked it all in, stopped at a playground on the ride back to the car, and headed home. A great little adventure.
