Fathers and sons outing

I should probably put that in quotation marks, since we didn't actually go camping, or even go up to the campground. But my philosophy is, let's enjoy ourselves at all costs. It had been raining and was still awfully cold, and I figured a campout would not contribute to father-son bonding. So we went to Zaxby's instead.

To undo the damage to our health that did, we went on a bike ride from the mouth of Ogden Canyon to downtown and back. Google Maps says it was 5 miles round trip. I was really proud of Addison - it was hard for him at times, with those tiny wheels and one-speed bik, but he'd just take a little break and then say, "OK, let's go." It helped that we went right past the Dinosaur Park and a playground, and that there were periodic tunnels and bridges and murals. It's a great bike path, right along the river, and one we'll definitely do again.

Peeking in at all the dinos - Add was in heaven spotting the t-rexes and ankylosauri.

Made it! You can see the temple going up in the background.

"Wait, we have to go all the way back?"
Then we watched "Disney Oceans" in the back of the mini while eating hazardous amounts of popcorn and candy. (The first stop on any father-son trip is to WinCo to pick out candy from the big bins. Add was thrilled to get lego candy.) Then we headed home to sleep in our own comfy beds. On the way back, all the power went out and there wasn't even emergency power for the stoplights. It was spooky. We crossed over the train tracks and I wondered if the power was working for the crossing arms. Luckily no trains came.

Sounds like a tradition in the making.
